Hans-Jurgen (Jack) Becker

Jack has a passion for quality European-style cycling facilities. He is convinced that it is a prerequisite for attracting people to cycling for transportation. He believes that growth in cycling for transportation requires vibrant, liveable, and sustainable communities with combined mobility capacity and urban form that provides land use densification supportive of generating sufficient traffic for justifying cycling and cycling and transit trip infrastructure investments. Jack spends his efforts focusing on the role of human behavior influencing successful infrastructure, network and infrastructure design toolkits, and social marketing of cycling.

As a professional, he is a principle in the cycling consulting and planning firm of Third Wave Cycling Group Inc. In his endeavour to advance the understanding in North America of factors that will progress the growth of cycling, Jack lead bringing the Velo-city Global 2012 Conference to Vancouver from 2009 until Feb, 2012 as the Conference Chair and Director and also President of VeloWorks Cycling Society.

As a cycling advocate, for 20 years, Jack has been actively involved from organizational and strategic levels to detailed, on-street designs and programs, focussing on people needs when cycling from transportation to touring. He has provided his thoughts and efforts to cities of Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary. He has spoken at several conferences in North America, Spain, Taiwan and China.

Jack is a touring cyclist at heart, preferring the open road. As a cycling tourist, he has cycled over 80,000 km in North America, Europe, and New Zealand./pr>

Jack brings with him his experience spanning 35 years where he has worked in construction and development, transportation in the movement of goods, and in procurement. He has been a planner, analyst, program manager, contract negotiator, terminal manager, construction engineer, and a farmer.

Richard Austin Campbell

Vice President

Richard Campbell has over 17 year's expertise in cycling and sustainable transportation.

He is a founder of the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition, the British Columbia Cycling Coalition (BCCC) and Better Environmentally Sound Transportation (BEST). In his role of Manager of Active Transportation for BEST, he coordinated cycling promotional, educational & research initiatives including the Freewheeling' Cycling Guide, Bike Month, valet bicycle parking, and the Business Case for Active Transportation. He has successfully championed the Central Valley Greenway, wider sidewalks on the Lions Gate Bridge, and the bicycle path on the Canada Line Bridge.

Richard is currently a Director of the BCCC and a member of the City of Vancouver's Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Prior to his work at BEST, he had twenty years of experience in computer software engineering as lead designer of figure animation tools.

Richard did not have a bicycle as a child and did not learn how to cycle until his early twenties. Ever since, he has been making up for lost time.

Paul Dragan

Vice President and Secretary

Mr. Dragan is a Vancouver businessman who has been involved in the cycling industry and advocacy for over 25 years. He is the founder and major shareholder of Reckless Bike Stores, a multi location company with operations in Vancouver & Victoria. A former professional bike racer from Europe, Paul has extensive experience in successful cycling infrastructure in Europe and North America. Mr. Dragan brings a "business like approach" to all his projects and understands timelines, accountability & budgets. He has extensive accounting & project managment experience.

Paul is a former board member of numerous provincial and national boards including Retail BC, the Downtown Vancouver Association, the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada, and the City of Vancouver Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Mr. Dragan's other business interests include a construction company, a bicycle manufacturing company, and a mountain bike park.

Paul regularly commutes by bicycle to his business and meetings, and is an ardent supporter of getting "more people on bikes more often."
